Am I increasing the cull distance correctly?

Hi Ryan92345

Set your max cull distance to “0”
Is this grass from the “KiteDemo”?

The link below is what I am dealing with. I would like the grass to cover the entire landscape (especially the mountain in the distance), but it only seems to be covering a small portion currently. I tried increasing the cull distance of the grass mesh to fix this but it did not seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

I am relatively new to all this which is why I am having such a hard time of it. Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,

I set the max cull distance to 0 but nothing changed, the mountain is still without grass.

It might be from the KiteDemo, I got it from one of the free mesh packs on this website so I don’t know for sure.

Many thanks for your help!

Ok
So, the Mesh setting is overwriting the “Cull Distance” from the landscape.

Try to save that foliage (just click the small blue disket to save) to generate a foliage instance to see if it do anything. If not, check the mesh of this grass and find the cull distance setting there

Hi Ryan92345,

I see you mention that you’re using the Landscape Grass Type in your “Tags” for the questions, but you don’t actually mention this in the question itself.

There are multiple ways to cull things in the editor. With the landscape grass type when you open the asset you can set the Start and End Cull Distance

There limitst that can be hit with the density and distance based on the size of the mesh. Since this method was used extensively and developed for the Open World Kite Demo you can check how the material was used to blend at distances there to make it not appear as noticable. It would be very expensive to render all the grass assets at higher densities for such large draw distances when they wouldn’t be as noticable.
