Avast Virus on build dll (Engine & Game)

Hi,

We just move to 4.10.1 and now each time we build (hot reload include) our game or the engine, AVAST is claiming to find a rootkit “Win64:Evo-gen” in the build library and block their execution.
There was an issue on this a long time ago but it just came bakc on 4.10.

Could you please work with them to clean this false positive?

As a workaround, I can remove Binaries folder from the Scan, but I’m can’t ask my client to apply those king of patch in their system.

Thanks,

Hey -

Avast Antivirus is a known program that can cause issues when building code / launching the editor (A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums). As noted on the wiki page, the simplest workaround is to add UE4Editor.exe to the firewall/antivirus exception list.

Cheers

Hi,

I can understand that this is in the “conflict list” but do you know the root cause of why 4.10 do not work with Avast?

Someone reported that it’s also blocking Cook Build, so this is a major issue.

Anything we can do to tackle this?

We’re not certain what about UE4 triggers an Avast software response, but there’s nothing we can do about it on our end. You may need to contact Avast for more information. As I mentioned, adding UE4Editor.exe as an exception it should prevent the editor from being caught by antivirus and allow your builds to complete.
