Launcher 4.1 - My Content [repair] + Missing Thumbnails

I’ve been trying to solve this issue since yesterday without success.
When I first started on UE 4.02, the launcher worked fine, but the Editor was getting unstable and crashes every time.
When the update for 4.1.0 comes, the editor become stable, but the launcher start to had some issues.
If open the launcher and Install the UE and any of the contents it will work fine. But if close the launcher and re-open it again, all the contents are having “repair” link¹ in front of them, and when I click on it nothing happens.

Another issue which is minor is that the thumbnails² of projects are being shown as blank, what makes me thought that may be something wrong with the folder structure, since I use an special charactere³ in my user name. I tried to modify the manifest file but everything stayed the same. I did uninstalled everything and installed again in a different folder but I am still getting the same problems.

PS: sorry about my english.

I’d sort of found out why this is happening. The UE4 seems to be more sensitive about non-ascii characters, the character which is causing this issue is this one:

http://www.charbase.com/00e9-unicode-latin-small-letter-e-with-acute

I kind of removed that from the file name and the path, creating a new user on my windows 8 and everything worked perfectly. So I guess I’ll have to format my computer to make that work properly.
Maybe I’ll do that next weekend.

Hi Clay! Thank you so much for this report :). You are correct of course, in that your path with the accented character is what is causing an issue finding the projects in the Launcher. I have added this problem to our bug tracking software so that we can get it sorted.

Hopefully a workaround for you, rather than format your computer

You can change where projects are installed to using the link on the marketplace download page. This will set a new default. If you can work with that for the time being, hopefully we can fix this soon.

Thanks,
Leigh

Thanks Leigh, that solves the problem with the “repair” links.
Thank you for that and thank you for the fast reply!

But the projects thumbnails remain blank, just for record. But this is a minor issue for me.

Great news, I will pass the issue with the thumbnails on for investigation!

Hi Clay,

I’ve attempted to reproduce the issue you are having with thumbnails showing up as blank and was wondering if there are any additional steps you’ve taken to get it to occur.

The character you’ve indicated above, I’ve used in my folder structure and the thumbnails don’t show up at all in the Project Browser (I’m on Windows 7 though).

Any other steps you’ve taken would help!

Thanks,

Hello Wes Bunn, I guess I didn’t do it nothing different that I’d describe above, since I’ve updated from 4.0.2 to 4.1 I started to having those issues, now that I changed where the project are installed it stops with the repair issue, but I still having issue the blank thumbnails on project browser Even when I’d uninstalled everything, deleted all folders, even installing 4.0.2 I’m getting blank thumbnails now.

The only guess that I have is that the UE4 may be calling thumbnails from “…User\Appdata\Local\UnrealEngine*” in some way.
They are the only folders fom UE4 that are inside User (xClé) folder that I could find.

(I’m using Windows 8 by the way)
