UE4 cant get the directional lighting to work

When using the directional light with the atmosphere sun light checkbox set to true, the lighting does not show the normal sky box and night lighting is almost completely black. Is there anything that i can do about this?

This picture is supposed to be the light rotated to a nighttime scene with a moon

Have you rotated the atmospheric fog at all?

I just tried it and it didn’t change anything.

I’ve also deleted and replaced all the light actors and I have built the lighting countless times.

Hey DownWithTheDolan,

Try the suggested steps below to see if you can resolve your issue.

Steps to follow

  • Create a new default level.
  • Rotate the ‘Directional Light Actor’ to a degrees similar to the below image
  • Set the ‘Auto-Exposure’ within your Post Process Volume to Min Brightness 1.0 and Max Brightness 1.0 (If you don’t have a post process volume, add one).
  • Add a Skylight
  • Rebuild your scene using the ‘Build All’ option.
  • Modify the ‘Stars Brightness’ of the BP_SkySphere

Your scene should look something like the below image.

Let me know if you have further questions.
