Importing A.R.T rig to motionbuilder, scene empty with invisible bones?

I’ve set up a rig in Maya using the A.R.T package (lovely tool by the way, good job!) and I would like to bring my preview mesh and skeleton into MotionBuilder for retargeting and other neat stuff Motionbuilder offers. But when I import or open my exported fbx it’s basically empty, except I have the skeleton in there but it’s invisible :O.

Using maya 2016 and motionbuilder 2015 btw. I know A.R.T is not officially supported by 2016, could this be the issue?

ART is based around Maya and not MotionBuilder. The ART rig is not directly compatible or exportable to MotionBuilder.

For Setting up a Rig in MoBu, you’ll want to import a clean FBX with just your character’s skeleton and mesh (basically what you’d import into the engine). You’ll need to then characterize in MotionBuilder. More info on that here: Characterization in MotionBuilder -3dmotive - YouTube

Aaaah I realized that I needed to open up the rig file and export from there. As you mentioned; The content that I would import into the engine.
