Deploying Unreal Engine in a managed windows environment

Hi

I’m sure somebody here has found a way to simplify the deployment of Unreal Engine for educational lab computers.

I’ve read this guide but it’s a bit lacking and it’s suggestions are a little unreasonable/excessive for deploying an application in a college network. A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums
Basically it’s not the sort of thing I’d expect for a administrators guide to deploying a software package.

I’m hoping somebody has found a streamlined method.

  1. list of dependencies for things like directx version,
  2. Is the program just a few folders (program files\epic… & programdata\epic… ) that can be wrapped up and copied to lab computers? E.g. use admin studio or zip and powershell create a shortcut to UE3Editor.exe.
  3. Does it require registry entries and dll registrations?

Ideally I’d love for Epic to just release a pre-packaged MSI’s for offline network deployment of the Unreal Engine, or an exe offline installer with switches to govern silent behaviour of the installer. Go on make it easy for us. Then we’ll stop objecting to teaching staff asking for these cool tools. They are cool tools and we do want to them to use to give rich learning experiences.

Regards

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the Epic support team. We have recently restructured our support system to better assist our users across Epic’s growing catalog of products.

Epic Games launcher support will now be handled by our Player Support team through an email ticketing system and active knowledge base. This support will encompass the download and installation of the launcher and the various Epic Games products hosted on the launcher (UE, UT, Shadow Complex, Fortnite, and Paragon). The launcher support team will also handle connection issues related to these products. The launcher support site can be accessed here (http://help.epicgames.com/).

Traditionally, Unreal Engine support has been handled through AnswerHub, and this particular process will not change. Users of the Unreal Engine may continue to post questions and issues as normal and interact with the engine support team. Any questions or issues that arise prior to the successful installation of the Unreal Engine should be directed at the website above and the launcher support team.

Those seeking assistance with the other individual products may do so through the following pages:

Shadow Complex - http://shadowcomplexhelp.epicgames.com/

Fortnite - Coming soon
