Dragging Unreal Asset into viewport make it lose texture and shape.

Hi everyone this is my first time posting and I am very new to unreal engine, so sorry if I am a noob, I downloaded an unreal asset from my friend and i copied the folder over to my contents folder in my project then I went into unreal engine and the folders were there, then I went into the Meshes folder. Here where the grass assets that I needed so all I did was drag them into the view port and suddenly they don’t have a material and their just cubes without material, here are images.

After Dragging into View Port :

I hope you are able to help me, its really getting annoying because this is not the first asset this has happened with.
Thank you very much.

Hey there,

It looks like you don’t have a material applied, apply the material of the mesh and tell me what happens.

My fault, just saw the material is of the floor. Open up the woodland mesh and apply the material there.

→ Double click the mesh → On the right specify the material

Thank you I will try that and get back to you.

Hey Panda Studios I did that but when i select the material that turns blank as well! :frowning:

What is going on?

Hey,\

Can you open the material and send an image of how that looks like?

It also happens to material :

Hey,

Question, how did you import the uassets? Did you migrate or just copy paste the files in the content folder? Looks like all references are broken and that usually happens on copy/paste. If you have these assets connected in another project then migrate those. Right click → Export → Migrate the folders

In this case the material instance doesn’t have a parent so that’s why. You can try locating the parent material and input that in parent in general tab of 3th image, but i’m guessing the material itself will also have disconnected textures so if you have these files working in another project i highly suggest you migrate.

If not you might have to connect them all yourselves.

Ok so how can I properly import the assets into my project?
Thanks for the help.

By migrating from another project into yours. It’s not always possible but best way. Also ALWAYS make sure that even when you’re copy/pasting that you’re pasting directly in the content folder, not a subfolder.

Don’t worry! I have found the most amazing solution its not migrating or copying to the Contents folder. All you have to do is navigate to your Vault Cache located on your PC and paste the folder with the assets there, then restart the Epic launcher then go to Library you will see your assets there and just click add to project! I found this all by my self, never seen this on the internet please spread this with everyone!

I did just as you’ve written but it is not displaying in the library…plz help me

You’re the best m8. I pasted what I needed to the content folder and it worked. thanks!
