Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Editor rendering broken

After importing a skeletal mesh and having my editor crash it no longer functions correctly. It appears that the rendering has broken because all physics meshes disappear, various walls lose faces, and some objects are extremely bright. Ive tried building the map to see if it would fix the problem, and same with restarting. The in editor camera also appears to be violently shaking. Ive opened up other projects and the rendering if completely fine in those, but not in this.

Hey Shirk,

As you suggested, the issue lied with your Config file/folder. I opened your project and definitely saw the issue occurring, and a team member suggested the issue could lie with setting the Near Clipping Plane to 0.0 which was exactly what you had the value set at within the project setting.

Simply delete your Config folder, and re-open your project and the issue is resolved. You might need to reset some of your project settings, but don't set the near clipping plane to 0.0. I would also suggest beginning to convert your BSP's to Static Meshes or replacing them with your own meshes as soon as you are able.

Let me know if you have further questions or need additional assistance.

Cheers,

Andrew Hurley

What if you try to reinstall the engine does that solve it? (maybe backup the project first)

It appears to only be a problem in this project.

You can always try to reinstall the engine, it might solve it you never know.

I dont believe that will change anything in my project, when I make a new project everything is fine.

Have you tried to rebuild using the 'Build All' option? You have a message that is asking you to rebuild and I know you mentioned that in your initial post, but the screenshots suggest otherwise.

Try deleting your Saved, Intermediate, and DDC folders to see if that helps at all. Be sure to make a copy of your original project first before deleting these folders.

Let me know if you need further assistance or have further questions.

Cheers,

Andrew Hurley

Thanks for the reply, I did both things you mentioned and the problem is still not resolved. alt text

So do me a favor. Take only your Config, Content, and .Uproject files and folders in your Unreal Projects folder and zip them into a compressed folder. Then upload this to a shareable google drive link or the mega link you provided earlier so I can take a look at this project on my end. The project you provided is a packaged version which won't allow me to open it in the editor.

Thank you,

Andrew Hurley

Do you have an email I can send it to, Id prefer not to share my project publicly.

Sorry I forgot to tell you to send me a private message via the Forums to AndrewHurley.

Sorry as well for the late reply, but I had migrated all of my content over to a new project and everything was working fine again. But now just its happened again. The editor crashed after playing around in blueprints, and I loaded the project up again for the error to return.

So it appears the problem is linked to something in the Config folder of the project.
