How do I get Movies to play on startup for my packaged game?

Ok So under Game- Movies I have my mp4 opening credits movie selected. However when I package the game the movie does not show nor load on start up.

I have no idea what to do past this point. I really do need the movie to start up during game play. Any suggestions would be great!

Hi ,

You need a mp4 file and it’s recommended that it’s h264 encoded. Also, If your using the startup movie section of the project settings, please keep in mind that the videos will stop playing if the level is ready to play. If the level your loading is quick to load, it’s possible that you won’t even get a to see the video at all.

There is currently no way to adjust this in the binary version, but if you happen to working in the source version, you can configure it to not stop playing through code.

Good news! Talked to Devs about it and they’ve already gone and added options into the editor! The two options will let you choose if it will wait for Movie to finish and if they’re skippable. These options will be available in 4.2 or within the next few days if you’re using source.

Man, i really hope 4.2 Will be released soon, me and my team is presenting a game in 2 days at an exhibition, would suck if the intro cinematic didn’t make it :I

Has there been any solution to this? I am having the same issue. I see a white window open up, but then my game immediately starts. I am using version 4.2, and have checked the boxes for Wait for Movie to Finish and if They’re Skippable, but the movie is still closing on load. Thank you for your help!

There is a way. I would contact RAD tools directly. I can’t tell you much more than that being under disclosure.

Hello, I am trying to load my movie at startup. Its mp4 encoded with H264. i have it in the project settings but it is still not showing up on startup.
Can anyone help?

Hey Khushnuma,

Could you please post this question in a new post on AnswerHub? Please explain what platforms you’ve pushed your project to where the video isn’t showing up.

Thank you!

I’m a bit late here, but I have found this really easy tutorial on how to do that:

Make sure you have Windows Movie Player enabled in Edit > Plugins > Movie Players

I was trying to get every format imaginable to play and nothing worked, then enabled the plugin and all formats in .mp4 have worked. Version 4.19.2 here.
