What is the best way to make a reflective water material?

I am having trouble getting water to look right. All i need is reflection, it doesn’t need translucency.
I tried copying the screen capture 2d setup like in the Reflections scene from the Content Examples, but when I scale the plane, the image distorts.

Any ideas?

What would be the advantage or disadvantages of using screen capture cube?

what field of view should the scene capture 2d be set on?
