Securing server and its datas

Hey out there (hopefully I am right here),

I am pretty new here on UE and will start to make my own first game with your lovely and more than fair prices engine, imo. Thanks so much for that at this place!

I have not that pretty good knowledge about security and how it would be possible to catch/modify/etc server datas as private user/gamer. All you can see is a questionmark-face on me regarding to how it is possible for privates to create and start their own server with my created game, like it is all existing for World of Warcraft, Aion, etc…

So the question is how are they able to do that (no need to explain in detail, pls) and the most important: How am I able to secure these things as best as possible. Is Unreal Engine protecting itself, do I even need to do anything for that or do I just “need” some luck/good enough pricing etc for my game, so no one would get any interest to start their own server, like it seemly is in Guild Wars 1/2 where players only need to pay once.

Thank you very much for your attention

With kind regards,
-Keena
