Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

using marketplace assets inside my app ?

Our SAAS application has a library of downlodable assets, the user can place these assets dynamically prior activation of our paid service. These assets are distributed in cooked only format (imagine a The Sims like game), and can’t be exported outside the application.

We want to know if assets we bought from the marketplace can be used in our app and distributed in such way (final users can only export images (renders) of their work). Our app uses only runtime UE code and all other streamed assets are created by us.

Thank you

You say our product is an app (as opposed to a game, I assume); can you say more about what your app is, and how the library of assets works?

Our app is an architecture CAD app, users can draw floorplans and place assets to decorate their work (business model is subscription or unlocking in app purchases, SAAS-like). Our app uses only runtime UE code and the users can only export images/videos from it (we'll pay 5% to Epic when we generate revenue).

The assets library currently works with our own IP, we are just evaluating the possibility of buying some marketplace assets that we could include in it, but only if it's legally possible.

The comparison with a game would be with a The Sims-like game where users pay to unlock the ability to place objects in-game and get extra game features.

Thank you for your help!

Yes, I think you could use Marketplace assets so long as, as you said, they are in cooked form totally inseparable from your app (meaning end users can't take the assets and use them in other applications).
