Screen flicker on newer iOS device when launching game

Hi All

We are working on a 3D graphics iOS game (using the Binary build of UE 4.10 on Windows 10 machines) and having some really bizarre issues when trying to launch it on newer iOS devices (specifically on occurred on and ). We’ve been developing the game for the last couple of months and testing it on an and along the way with none of these issues.

Basically what happens is we launch the game from the UE4 editor and it “pushes” to the iOS device with no issue. Then when you try and actually tap on the game icon the device the screen RAPIDLY flickers between a white screen and your home screen (the game does not actually launch). The device becomes completely unresponsive and the only way to stop this is to do a hard reset (hold home and power button for a couple of seconds).

We’ve only seen this happening on “newer” iOS devices ( & ). The exact same build runs perfectly on an and .

All iOS devices are running the latest iOS 9.2.1.

Gecron,

In order to better assist you, could you please provide me with the iOS logs from your device where the game is crashing? You can follow steps for obtaining the logs [here][1].

Do you have a project that this happens in all of the time? Can you replicate it within a new project? Please provide me with reproduction steps in order to verify this issue.

Thanks!

Hey Gecron,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you!

Hi . Thanks for your reply. We were just trying to track down some devices to test this on and get the logs for you. When we finally managed to test it again the error seems to have gone. All I can think is that when it originally occurred we were on UE 4.10.2 and with our most recent tests we were on UE 4.10.4. But thanks again for your reply. The issue can be marked as resolved.

You’re welcome, please reply back if you run into the issue again.
