Animate texture on only one part of UV map?

Trying to have a sign with an animated texture that I would usually just use flipbook for, except that I need it to only play on one of the UV islands. Is this possible, or will I have to export the object in multiple pieces with separate UVs?

You can mask that particular part of the UVmap, and lerp a variety of effects/flipbook that part.

I’m not the original poster but I would like to know more. I don’t know much about 3D modeling or setting materials to look at specific segments of UV.
