Epic Game launcher stuck at download

I wanted to finally start using Unreal Engine 4 so I went to the website, clicked on ‘Get Unreal’ then clicked on ‘windows’. It started downloading a 31mb file which didn’t take more than 5-8mins (NOTE: I have a slow internet connection but it’s ok-ish and can download pretty much anything). So I installed Epic Games Launcher and it started downloading a 90mb file. That’s where my problem arises

The download goes to 7.7mb then goes DOWN to 7.5 mb??! and it keeps fluctuating till it comes to a halt. Usually it doesn’t take more than 14-17 mins for me to download a 90mb file but when I came back after half an hour it was still stuck at 11%. I re-booted my computer tried again (No luck). also tried re-downloading the launcher (still no luck).

Is there anyway I can get a direct link or a solution to this problem? thanks guys!

Hello 32sav,

This issue is sometimes caused by your router struggling with the number of connections due to too many downloads happening simultaneously. To work around this issue, try the following steps. As a note, this workaround may result in lower download speeds, but should allow your download to complete eventually.

  1. Navigate to Computer> Local Disc (C:)> Users> [your username]> AppData> Local> EpicGamesLauncher> Saved> Config> Windows. Note: The AppData folder is hidden by default. If you are unable to see it, you will need to change your settings so that you can view hidden folders.
  2. Open the file named Engine.
  3. Add the following lines to the end of the file:

[Portal.BuildPatch]

ChunkDownloads=3

  1. Save the file.
  2. Retry the download.

If you still have trouble, you can try setting ChunkDownloads, which represents the number of downloads that will run simultaneously, to 2 or 1.

exact same problem and i replaced some text in engine file and it worked.
thanx.
