Skylight stops working when you turn it off and on a couple of times

When I untick Affects World and turn it on again the skylight stops working. I have to make a new level and copy everything over to get it to work again. And even then it sometimes still doesn’t work. I’ve tried restarting several times (including my pc), removing the skylight and placing a new one and I’ve tried rebuilding the lighting but the skylight is still unresponsive.

Hello Goldenvale -

Have your tried this in a blank template project and gotten the same results? Does it only happen in one project? Your skylight is it Static, Stationary or Movable? If it is static are your rebuilding lighting after rechecking Affects World? What are your Source Type and Intensity settings as well as does it Cast Shadows or is Lower Hemisphere is black set to true? What other lights are you using in your scene? Are you using a Light Propagation Volume?

Thank You

Hey Eric,

I haven’t tried this in a blank template project or any other project but I think this only applies to my current project. My skylight is stationary, source type is SLS captured scene, intensity is 1.0, cast shadows and lower hemisphere is black are set to true. The only other light i’m using is a directional light which is also stationary. No Light Propagation Volume.

Now skylights don’t work at all in new empty levels. They only work when you make a default level.

Hi Goldenvale -

Skylights will not work unless there is sometime of skydome in the background. The skylight works by taking a captured cubemap of the scene and applying it to the level with intensity settings. If you are using the empty level it is actually trying to illuminate your scene with black.
