Can only launch VR Preview with HTC once per editor session

VR Preview works fine the first time I launch using the HTC , but if I exit the preview, then try to launch it again, I get a red screen on my .

I can fix this by closing both the editor and SteamVR, waiting a few seconds, then relaunching both.

Is there any way to fix this?

I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide the the reproductions steps needed to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Does this issue still happen in 4.11?

I have the same issue. After lunching again my eyes are pointing in a different direction. Controllers sometimes are attached to the base station or not attached at all. And I have started new empty template. O unity engine my htc is working without any problems. Can someone help ?

Could you answer the questions above as well as provide the engine version that you are currently using?

  1. yes, I just have made new vr template project
  2. I just press vr preview, esc button, then my vr shows red screen, and if I press vr preview again then each eye is pointing to different directions.
  3. I’m using 4.18
    Additionally, my 3d hand models are attached to base stations or just laying on the ground, every time is a different thing. sometimes one 3d hand model is laying on the ground and another is attached to base station.

P.S. Recently I have figured out so that I can exit vr inside 3d space by clicking the menu button on the controller and pressing vr home, then I’m moved to vr home, so automatically I’m exiting uneal engine vr space. And if I’m starting again then my visuals are working. Something is wrong with ESC button, maybe some bug in vrStream I don’t know. Also, tries Alt+V, but this combination doesn’t give any response at all.

After running a few tests on our end, I have not been able to reproduce this issue. Could you try the following suggestions and let me know if any of them help.

  1. The is run as an “extended” display (“display settings” - “extend these displays”)
  2. Arrange the displays so that they only touch on a corner to avoid overlapping windows
  3. Make sure no windows are on full screen so that they do not touch the edge of the screen
  4. Does Steam VR mention that you need to make the compositor fullscreen?
