You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash

I’ve got some issue where the packaged client of my game crashes immediately after starting, but I cannot debug it because the crash reporter apparently won’t show the callstack in a ‘devlopment’ nor ‘debuggame’ build. The game runs fine in the editor, so I just need to know how to enable the level of debugging needed to see the callstack on a packaged client game.

Doesn’t seem to be helpful.

Any idea how you go about accessing the symbol debugger UI? It doesn’t seem to be anywhere obvious and that page of the documentation doesn’t say how to access it.

did you check the logs?

Does setting up the symbols help with a packaged game?
https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Programming/Development/Tools/SymbolDebugger/index.html

Looks like you need to update Engine.ini

The Symbol Store section provides a text box for entering the location of the local symbol store to utilize when syncing the files required for debugging. This value will be retrieved from the Engine.ini file in the following section:
[Engine.CrashDebugHelper]
LocalSymbolStore=d:/Symbols/UE4
Currently, altering this entry in the application does not update the ini settings.

Pecon

Please follow these instructions to ensure you have the symbols for debugging installed:

  • Open up the Epic Games Launcher
  • Click on the Library tab
  • Click on the yellow and black downward arrow beside Launch
  • Click on Options
  • Make sure that there is a check-beside ‘Editor symbols for debugging’
  • Press Apply

Once you’ve done that, it should update the editor for you and this issue should go away. Please let us know if it does not.

Thanks!

This answer is only two months old and I don’t think the launcher UI has changed in that time, but I can not find the “Options” item. All I have is “Set Current”, “Create Shortcut”, “Remove”, and “Verify”.
What am I missing here?
(Sorry, I need the symbols for 4.9.2, maybe it doesn’t have this option for some reason?)

You dont see Physix warnings? :stuck_out_tongue:

You can find options here:

That’s from the Epic Games Launcher. 4.9 does not have Options, this started in 4.10.

the shader compilation cannot be compromized of more than 139 words…
someone needs to tell people not to fix the shaders, it’s already in bumpmapping, wich is 5 layer textures with transperancy and 3d effects for realz Yo!

In the project settings->packaging you need enable “include debug files”

Did not work for me what I do?

Hi, I keep getting the “You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash.” error, even after downloading editor’s symbols for debug and checking “include debug files” in project settings… :frowning:

Please help!! The deadline for my project is on friday!!

Many thanks in advance.
