Can Epic add support for *.obj, *.dae, and other file types beyond FBXs?

Hi everyone,

I’d like to get the community together to help push UE4 to support more file types such as .obj and .dae which gives other 3D applications (Sketchup, etc) more options to export and import into UE4.

Please help me in voicing our wishes in near future feature release.

Hi! Just to point out that .obj support has been added should you wish to use it, though it is a very limited format.

Here’s a link to the commit:
https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/commit/541525533a27dd242d284f0781b28a836c7f7146

Do let us know what other formats you’d really like to see supported though, and we can look to integrating them.

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the quick reply and great news.

As an architectural designer I use sketchup a lot because of its accurate modeling and architect friendly tools so I would desperately, desperately beg the unreal team to support .skp file type so I can begin my architectural visualization in UE4.

Thank you Andrew,

How about a .blend file
