E1223 during UE4 install but MS VC++ 2015 not installed

I installed using the standard download, and the UE4 install failed wirh E1223. The troubleshooting guide says it is a problem with an existing Visual C++ Redistributable 2015, but I do not have it installed. I do have 16 earlier Redistributables dating from 2005 to 2013. I am using Windows 10, Core i7 4790K, 16 GB RAM, and I have over 200 GB of free disk space on my system drive.

Which engine version were you installing? Also, would you be able to zip up and post your prerequisites install logs? You can find them by navigating to your appdata temp folder. This can be found by typing %temp% into your file explorer address bar. Once there, zip up any .log file that starts with "UE4_".

I went to the web site and clicked on the blue “Get Unreal” button in the top right of the page.

I don’t see anything wrong in the logs. Those logs seem to indicate Engine Version 4.10 was successfully installed on March 3rd. Can you give any more details on exactly when you see that E1223 error?

So I uninstalled again, and went back and downloaded the installer again, and reinstalled, for the third time. This time it worked. I cannot explain it. Thanks for being responsive and helpful to a noob.
