My level is being illuminated when there are no light actors

Right now I’m trying to play with the shadows in my level, controlling what is illuminated and what isn’t, but for some reason the entire level can be seen even though there are currently no light actors in it. There is no sky sphere nor atmospheric fog or any material with emissive color, and finally I can even see the level when I build the light. Any suggestions?

hmmm… could it be auto exposure?
