How to access the filters in the class viewer?

I am trying to make the content of the course relevant for both Mac and PC users. However, when showing the students the Class Viewer I noticed the following inconsistency:

The global menu bar does not show any change when this window is in focus. So I cannot see a way of accessing the filters on OSX. Perhaps there’s something I’m missing.

Hi sampattuzzi:

This is actually a bug that has been overlooked so there is currently no way to access these filters on the Mac version of UE4. Using the information from this post, I’ve entered the following bug report: JIRA [UE-28422] When this has been addressed, we will notify you with an update to this post.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention,

.

In another Mac issue, it seems that one can only View Classes that Derive from Actor in the class Viewer. Bummer because I’d like to discover properties and functions in the class viewer but cannot on a Mac.

Hi shatieshack78,

This is not exclusively a Mac issue; the Class Viewer functions the same way on the PC. That said, I’ve entered the following Feature Request to add the ability to search for and discover Properties and Functions in the Class Viewer: [UE-29439]

Should this functionality be added to the Engine, we will notify you with an update to this post.

Still not fixed in 14.2… How can I access those filter on macOS?

Hi norlin,

Until this bug is fixed, you will not be able to access those filters. This bug is still open and you can track it on the following link: UE-28422. In the meantime, I have increased the community interest for this issue.

Six months later. Still not fixed.

I’m watching a tutorial in a Udemy course, and they can see classes other than those derived from Actor on PC. I can only see Actor and subclasses of Actor on Mac. I am running UE 4.16.1 on MacOS . The course video was made with something slightly earlier than that.

I looked at Issue UE-29439 and I don’t think it describes the problem being discussed here. The problem here is that we can see only a small portion of the class hierarchy. My guess is that the Filter menu that we can’t see on MacOS (UE-28422) is set to Actors Only by default.
