Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Office Holiday

[Request] Xbox controller+Chatpad for UE4 editor input

Is it possible to use the Microsoft chat-pad for editor commands, instead of a standard keyboard? After several hours of game creation, it would be nice to not gave to be haunched over a desk. (Sore neck/back syndrome) For that matter, could the mouse function be mapped to the joystick of the xbox controller? Imagine ditching the PC mouse & keyboard, and being able to kick back using the xbox controller w/gamepad to build games? Also, is it possible to map mouse buttons (like the Razer 12 button) to editor key commands?

CURTROCK,

If you try to use 3rd party software that modifies Windows commands, you can get all the functionality you've requested. For the X360 controller functionality in UE4, look into "Pinnacle Game Profiler". Using that, you should be able to control the mouse/keyboard with the X360 controller. If you want to map Razer buttons to UE4 hotkeys, first setup any hotkeys in Unreal, then use Razer's software to access those same hotkeys. Have fun!

Thank you for the response. Just to be clear, what I want to control is the keyboard/mouse functions in the [Editor]. (as opposed to player control in-game) If I can use the Xbox joystick instead of a mouse, and the chat-pad instead of the PC keyboard, I could extend my game-building sessions by hours, not being hunched over a desk.
