Virtual Reality NPC Best Practices

Hello All,

My team is trying to build some very emotive NPC’s for a VR experience. We are just in the early stages of R&D and I’m trying to find answers about what kind of best practices there are for rigs, what kind of joint counts we should expect to keep frame rate stable. Any documentation, or projects I could look at would be great.

I am an artist by trade and have not done a great deal of rigging. We are in-between tech artists so I’m on deck for finding some answers. I’ve starting using a tool called Advanced Skeleton which I have used quite a bit and is a great artist friendly tool. However I have not been able to get the facial rig to work. I’m looking for any other artist friendly face rigging tools. Or even good example rigs.

Any thoughts on these topics would be of great help!
