Landscape Paint tool painting entire quadrant instead of a brush stroke.

So recently I have been working on an outdoor environment using a height map from VUE Infinite, and doing the base texturing (Dirt, Grass, Rock) with a splat map I made in photoshop.

I have the height and splat map both working nicely, with the base textures working and looking how they should. Now that I have all that, I began prepping for painting the paths/walkways and created the layers needed in order to paint. However once I began painting, instead of the texture painting along with the brush, it fills the entire quadrant in.

I have tried painting without a splat map, starting with a blank landscape and hand painting the textures on and it seems to work just fine. If someone could please help/point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

p.s. ill be continuing my research and if I find a solution I’ll close this thread/post what helped.

This is a before/after of the painting, since this is just a test map I’m using the same rock texture for the paths as I am the peaks. The red line represents my brush stroke/where the path should be painted.
