Join server on public IP address

Hello.

Look at this very simple main menu widget blueprint with two buttons “Host” and “Join”.

I can successfully Host the session but when I try to connect to my public IP address, nothing happens.

I was told to open the port 7777. I did, but with no result.
Is there something else I should do? Maybe in the DefaultEngine.ini file or something like that?

My goal is to allow players around the world to connect to my session using my public IP Address.

I also tried specifying the Player in the node “Execute Console Command” getting the Player Controller. That didn’t work either.

Sorry for bumping this, I really need help!

I already tried with the local IP and it works.

But I want my friends around the world to connect to my hosted session. So I need to open the port 7777. I did, but still no luck.

While i haven’t tried connecting to my own public ip address (from same computer), can you connect to locally (127.0.0.1) Or have another computer outside your network connect. Not quite sure why you would use public ip address from same computer?

@gedamial were u able to find any solution?

You need to port forward through your router. Open a console and ping your IP at port 7777

Port forward through your router then open a console and ping your IP at port 7777

Check this for any router help: 192.168.1.1

If you tired to plat the outdoor games then i have to tell you that from here you can enjoyed a lot to play spider solitaire free online game when i am started to play this game then i have really enjoyed and i have get lots of fun in my free time.

You may need to learn something about networking connection.I think you should do mapping with you router. But I don’t know how to get stated.Because I have trouble in it too.

How do you connect with the external IP 192.168.1.1 if you entered the internal IP into the port forwarding thingy?
Simple way to check your ip is explained on google blog simple by google search

Other way is to check what is my ip address and location.

i have the same problem, i cant connect to dedicated server from local IP and it works, but nothing on Public IP, you can use this site to verify your Dedicated Server: Open the dedicated server, open the ports on the modem and windows, if possible turn off the firewall on both and then this site checks if the server is connectable, there are many sites that provide this free and simple service.

I don’t know if this is your case, but if you want to connect to your server through the public ip, you need the client to be using another internet separate from the host server, if the client is using the same internet as the server, it has to be through IPV4 local of the host machine IP. Try open any game server like: “counter strike”, “Minecraft” or any and search on google “site to test ports”, I have de thame problem, but in my case ISP is not blocking.
