Handling hard shaded edges in Unreal (smoothing?)

Hey guys,

At the moment I am modeling a house with a lot of details and therefore a relatively high polygon count. Now I was wondering if I should use smoothing groups to avoid hard shaded edges which would result in a much higher polygon count. How are you guys handling this ? Does anyone know how AAA studios are handling hard edges ?

Its totally fine to use multiple smoothing groups, I wouldn’t worry about it :slight_smile:
