Submit Feedback tool, Possible memory leak?

Hello people,
I am currently streaming so I don’t have time to investigate too much but as I was showing off the submit feedback tool (On the top right of the editor), I notice that my CPU power was starting to be eaten.

Worried for my sanity, I opened up the profiler to check the performance and I indeed noticed some spikes.

It could just be the fact I’m streaming but I thought I’d let you know none-the-less.

Hi KitatusStudios,

  • Do you see this occur when not streaming?
  • What steps can I take to reproduce this on my end?
  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project?
  • Does the editor freeze and crash? Did you have to manually close out the editor or does the memory use drop down again after some time?

Oh hello . Nice to meet you…

  • Yes but not as intense
  • Just open the tool up and monitor profiler. It should throw spikes your way or lock-up. Shows up in task manager my end too.
  • Yeah, I’ve reproduced it in a blank project in 4.11 as well as 4.10.
  • Only momentarily, which happens at random times, but the memory use does drop after a while, and raise again .etc

Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce this on my end. These are the steps I have taken, can you tell me if I’ve missed anything that may help repro this?

  1. Open Task Manager
  2. Open Editor (any project)
  3. Press “Submit Feedback”> select feedback type
  4. Enter feedback into menu, select category, send

At this point I did not see any major spike in memory use, nor did the editor freeze. Is there a step I am missing?

No, they are the correct steps. Perhaps it something my side. I’ll mark this as closed for tracking purposes at the moment and re-open it when/if I find more proof.
