4.11 crashses when sculpting terrain with foliage

Hi I just downloaded the latest version 4.11 so I made a scene created a terrain applied some tessellated landscape material painted some foliage but when I sculpt the terrain where some foliage where painted it always crashes, sculpting the terrain works fine in the area where there are no foliage only in painted area.

  • what specific sculpting tool were you using on the landscape or does this occur with any tool?
  • What size landscape are you using?
  • Are you spawning the foliage using a procedural foliage volume or painting using the foliage paint tool?

Hi It happens everytime i use the sculpt tool and the erosion tool, the landscape resolution is 505x505 and I used the foliage paint tool.

I was able to reproduce this on my end and have entered a bug report, UE-29052, to be assessed by the development staff.

We are running into this crash on 4.11.1 as well, and it has become a blocker for us. Are there any workarounds? Any chance the fix makes it into the next hotfix? Thanks!

While there aren’t any known workarounds, this has already been fixed internally. I do not have a specific timeframe of when it will be made publicly available, but you can keep an eye out for hotfix and release notes in the [Announcements and Releases][1] section of the forums.
