How to manage materials for Maya mesh?

Hi guys!
I’m new at Maya 2016 and Unreal Engine 4, I am studying both softwares now.
So, I’ve made a house model at Maya but I want to add the materials in UE4. The problem is: When I add a material, the material gets stretched or not a proper size to the mesh. How can I solve this? Is there a proper way to do this?

ok, maya related questions should basically be asked on a maya related forum, but allright.

You will need to unwrap your model properly in maya first, and if you want to be sure that its unwrapped properly for that specific material, either export the material to use it in maya, or find a similar looking material.
I suggest the first option though.
