Screen corruption / artifacts during tooltip render.

Well, since 4.1 update, I haven’t been able to use UE4. Whenever I hover the cursor over anything that shows a tooltip, the entire window becomes impossible to work with or see anything. This happens in the engine and the launcher. All of my drivers for gpu and other components are up to date as well. I tried a Windows 7 reinstall and using older graphics driver, same problem.

System Specs:

Model - Lenovo IdeaPad Y580

CPU - Core i7 3rd Gen 3630QM

RAM - 6GB DDR3 800Mhz Dual (1600Mhz) channel

64GB Crucial Sata III SSD

750GB WD 5400rpm HDD

GPU - Intel HD 4000 + Nvidia GTX 660m 2GB GDDR5 (No overclocking, DX11)

Hi ,

Does this happen with every project or is it only when opening a specific project? Also are you on a windows OS or Mac OS? Thank you and have a great day!

As stated, I tried a Windows 7 Reinstall. It happens in the launcher when trying to open ANY project, or start a new one. The screen does this and I can still click on open even though I can’t see it, But the tooltip shows up so I know I’m hovering over something. Even if I manage to open, everything goes fubar in the engine if I do ANYTHING with the mouse.

Hi ,

Are you able to revert back to 4.0.2 through the launcher? I only ask as it would allow you to continue working while we figure out what is going on. Can you check your Nvidia control panel to ensure that the editor is running with the GeForce 660m graphics card? There is a known issue with the editor registering multiple graphics cards and selecting the proper one to use, it may be pulling on your Intel HD 4000 which does not have Directx 11 support. Thank you and have a great day!

Downgrading my Nvidia driver resolved this issue. I rolled back to the Feb 2014 driver, no more corruption in UE 4.1!

Hi ,

I’m happy to hear you resolved your issue. I will mark this as accepted for tracking purposes. However, if you end up having more issues please comment here and we will continue to try and assist you! Have a great day!

I have this issue too. I am running Windows 8.1 x64 on a notebook with an Nvidia GTX765, running v337.x driver (April 20, 2014). I can suffer with the corruption for now, and will wait until next Nvidia driver update.

Let me know if I can provide any diagnostic data. I can re-pro the issue easily.

Just downgrade to the last NVidia driver before the current one u have, it will resolve the issue until nvidia releases a compatible driver. I’m using 4.1 now with no issues.
