4.11.1 HOT fix ruined oculus detection

Ya so I have been working on an important project that requires oculus dk2 for vr development (the final project will not really support the rift) we need the rift for vr level design because we can’t afford to buy another hmd. I fire up the new version after the “hotfix” -which is basically just adding new stuff so not really a fix- and now UE 4.11 does not allow vr preview. 4.10 still does so it is not a oculus problem. Is there a way to roll back the “hotfix”?

Same thing for me. Updated 2 PCs to 4.11.1. None of them is detecting DK2 now.

Hello,

4.11.1 has updated the Oculus SDK to 1.3.0. Try updating to that version and seeing if you are able to run the VR Preview after doing so.

Here is a link to the site for your convenience: https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/

Have a great day

To upgrade your DK2 to the latest runtime (1.3.0), just go to this site here

For some reason Oculus did not put this on their developer downloads page.

Who the hell voted this answered? First off I have been there and there is no runtime update only sdk source. So this is not answered.

you know what I have a answer… I will go back to 4.10 but after this project I might just scrap UE all together who puts beta sdk’s in production releases?

Ok I am trying that however it requires a update which I shut off when windows decided they can store and share my data without my approval… So I am attempting it but it requires doing a stand alone install with two different updates…

Well the setup did work. However after reading the terms of service and not being able to see my level because the glorified monitor called oculus was not not signed into the privacy policy nightmare that oculus 1.3.0… AND then there is this

Drixil, I got this stupid joke from Unreal as well.

Fortunately, my friend still hasn’t update to 4.11.1 yet, so I copy his 4.11 file from C://ProgramFiles/Epic Games/

and paste it in where my Epic Games file locate, and now I can’t still run DK2 on 4.11

do you need my aid to provide you with 4.11.0 file? maybe from google drive?

One of our artists didn’t upgrade how did you do it. What file the entire thing?

Hey Drixil I got my problem fixed. hope you didn’t turn back to 4.10 yet

I have but I want to use 4.11 how do you get it to work. I even tried to build 4.11 from source but it failed to build properly.

when you look into DK2, what do you see? Is it in the white frame lobby?

The last time I tried in 4.11.1 the hmd wasn’t even detected. I couldn’t do any VR preview

I mean is your DK2 complete black?

My issue is that the new runtime 1.3 will show a lobby in DK2 before anything start playing, so all I need to do is look at the last button then I’ll be able to enter the VR preview mode

OHHHH… You must have set up the new oculus runtime… We won’t be doing that. I am not going to go through all their marketing and tracking to view a level. It is a glorified monitor after all…

Well then I think we may encounter a different problem here, if you want to get back to 4.11.0, just go to the location of your epic games folder and copy folder that named 4.11(since you said one of your artist have yet upgrade to 4.11.1 yet).copy his/her file and paste it to your PC. Then just find the UE4editor.exe, and launch it. I’m able to open my4.11.0 project

You can’t use dk2 in4.11.1 with the0.8 runtime
