Black edges on meshes

Some of the meshes I am using are showing ugly black edges (circled in red in image). Others are showing up correctly (circled in blue in image). I used default import settings for all of the meshes. When I build lighting, the UE4 editor outputs the following errors for the affected assets:

“Object has overlapping UVs”

“Lightmap UV are overlapping by 1.3%. Please adjust content - enable Error Coloring to visualize.”

When lighting is not built, like when I change a setting on the Directional light, the black edges go away. But when I rebuild lighting, they come back. Any suggestions on how to fix would be appreciated.

This issue is very puzzling and I would like Epic to pay some attention to it. I found multiple threads without any answer and it’s a game breaker.
