Whats the best software for making Normal Maps?

So I’m getting really serious in making assets to distribute them to markets but I need to get a software that works really good for making ‘Normal Maps’ because I don’t want to buy a $300 professional use licences for this software called CrazyBump and find out their is better Normal Map creating software.

So please, if you know of a very great software that you have been using to make ‘Normal Maps’ don’t be afraid to tell me.

Thanks

Does anyone know? Thanks!

There is ndo2 from quixel but you need photoshop and crazy bump for making procedural normals and xnormal is free and very good for baking hi poly details for low poly meshes
Or for a great program get substance from Allegorithmic. You get bitmap2material which you can use to make full texture maps from bitmaps, normals, diffuse, roughness/spec and metallic/gloss. Automatically tileable. You also get designer which can do the same thing as xnormal and crazy bump plus generate the other texture maps. Very powerful and has a tiny file size so it saves space in your project. Plus you get painter which lets you paint materials on your models and then will export the texture maps. Hope that helps

Try “awesome bumb” which is for free and basically do the same.

Does anyone else have any suggestions other than awesome bump or ndo2? Wondering what else is available. I have tried downloading awesome bump and is very difficult to do. Looking for something easier to download but works as well. Thanks

ndo2 safe way

If you’re still looking for one you can download GIMP image editing software from GIMP - Downloads and its plugin called insane bump from http://registry.gimp.org/node/28638 you’ll find the downloads for the windows version towards the bottom of the site. Make sure you read that website for installation and to also understand how to use the plugin.
