4.11 hair material has artifact on certain character with point light…
Basically i set up the material like i did my previous character. Have not seen that artifact on him yet. But when i dropped a pointlight realtime into the scene… and moved the camera around… i get SUPER BRIGHT highlight that cover the entire screen as well as this weird black artifact that covers half the screen… screenshot only shows the black artifact which makes no sense.
Found a solution. The root color cannot be 100% black. If you make any color black it gives you that artifact.
In fact even other weirder artifacts happen like rainbow colors all over the screen if you make the color like 100% saturation.

I tried to reproduce this and I’m not able to readily reproduce this that I can see.
If you have any basic material setups that can reproduce this in a new project I can investigate. I’ve seen one other user report something similar with their material setups, but it’s a very complex scene they’ve sent that has been hard to dig through and it’s not reproducible in a new level in the same project. Their project was referring more to the Subsurface issues with skin and was not as pronounced as the one image you have though.
I can probably throw you a hair model and material/texture. Maybe tomorrow though… A bit busy today.

Just open up the test map… i switched the material isntance to have 100% black root color so it makes an ultra blinding highlight… which was part of the issue… apart from the blackness form the other screenshot… im sure its something similiar like making hte color 100% saturation… stuff like that… absolutes… In either case i noticed something else… That blackness from the screenshot… i noticed it somewhere else in my level, but only for a split second then it disappeared… no hair was around. Although the screenshot the hair was cuasing it for sure, but wasnt able to replicate that again… Was just a weird thing that might give a glue that it might be a shared issue with something else, but for the hair the not using 100% blackness on the root fixed it for me.
