Mouse position not properly scaled while recording video/image sequence

When recording a video or image sequence using matinee in 4.11 the mouse’s position doesn’t take in to account the fact that in 4.11 the window is smaller than the actual size of the output video/images.

I’m trying to record some gameplay for a trailer using matinee but we unproject the mouse position and have the player’s pawn look at where the mouse is pointing. This results in the player is only being able to look at the top left of the viewport unless we make the resolution 640x360 or smaller, which isn’t all that useful for trailer footage.

Hi kgamble,

I can’t say we recommend recording gameplay with the matinee movie capture tools. This method will lead to unrealistic timing because the matinee recording window will attempt to render every frame. With controlled matinee cameras, that’s fine because it’s timing is controlled, but it will cause issues recording gameplay.

We recommend using a 3rd party tool such as Fraps or OBS for capturing gameplay.

If you DO want to continue using the matinee movie render though, try using the “Separate Process” option for a full resolution window.
