Editor crash when reimporting mesh

When you change the level of detail of a mesh, then without saving reimport the mesh through the Asset - Reimport Mesh option, the editor crashes.

Update: Want to change category, but doesn’t seem to be possible…

I’m not seeing the same issue on my end. Can you provide more detailed steps to reproduce this along with information about how you’re doing LODs?

What I’ve tried:

  • I have a Static Mesh (LOD0 Box, and LOD1 is a sphere) that I created and grouped in 3DS Max.
  • I imported this with its LODs and verified they are working in the static mesh editor.
  • Went back to Max and changed some geometry for the Sphere Mesh
  • Reimported without any issue.

So with that in mind, I’m going to need additional details like the following:

  • What are your exact repro steps beginning to end.
  • Are you creating your LODs in a modeling program or using the manual process in the editor?
  • Can you also post your Epic/Machine ID, Callstack from the Crash Reporter window, and your full log from the project crash?
