Installer stop at Direct X in windows 8.1

I am trying to install the Windows version with Windows8.1. Everything seems fine and then the install wizard reaches some point in the direct x portion and just stops. I have tried everything I have seen as a remody and have no luck even though everything should be fine. My computer is only about a month old from cyber power. I can provide my phone number or can use Skype if you are able to help me that way to speed things up. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am very much looking forward to working with this software. Thank you in advance for your support.

It would help to get your installer log. You can find some info on how to get the log in this thread( MSI Installation issues ). How do I get help with UE4 installation and setup? - Getting Started & Setup - Epic Developer Community Forums

Alright thank you, as soon as I can I’ll let you know.

link text I believe this is what you are asking for. Hopefully this helps

Those do not appear to be the installer logs but the Unreal Engine Launcher logs. This means that your install probably completed successfully and you should be able to see the Unreal Engine folder in your ‘c:\Program Files’ folder. For this reason, I don’t think you’ll get much traction on this issue with your current question title since your issue is really with the Launcher failing to start and not an installer issue. I’ll see if I can find out more about why your launcher is not starting from your logs.

When you select the Unreal Engine shortcut from your Apps view, do you get an error dialog or any other indication that there might be an issue?

When the install wizard stops working it deletes the shortcut, so I have no idea, That’s what is so strange, everything seems to be here on my computer as far as the files go, but no way to launch the program.

I see, I would be happy to try and help but I will need your installer log files. If you go to this (link), you’ll see instructions for getting the log in the MSI (Windows only) installation issues section.

Hello 0xdeadbeef, I am Currently at 8% downloading the engine off the marketplace, when I got in to the office I just hit the installer one more time and when it asked where to install to I manually chose the UnrealEngine file and it still looked like it hung on directx but a second later this new page popped up which I guess is the Marketplace and it says its downloading Unreal Engine 4.1.0, just to be sure can you confirm I am at the right place now and downloading the newest version of the Unreal Engine. I hope my description of how I got this to work is enough. Thank you for all your help and for responding to me as quickly as you did.

Once the installer completes successfully, it will start the Unreal Engine Launcher which is what will allow you to download the engine and sample content. Sorry for the confusion but it sounds like your install completed and you are right where you are supposed to be. Once your download finishes you’ll be able to use the launcher to start the editor or get/run a number of marketplace items. I’m not sure what may have prevented you from installing previously but if you encounter the issue in the future the installer logs help us track down what might be going wrong. Glad you got it working!
