Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Cloth APEX Change bug

I have a character with clothing imported from 3DS Max. The Clothing is essentially a cloak.

Once the mesh is in I load in the APEX file into the skeleton and it works fine, some cutting but not the end of the world. I decide to go back to the original 3DS Max file to alter the cloth behavior and save it as a new APX file. When I load the new APX file into the skeleton cloak, it simply crashes. Don't know why

The only way to get it to work is to delete the character, reimport the character and load in the new APX file Only then it'll work, no idea why it happens, but I thought I should let someone know

No need to delete a whole character mesh. deleting only all APX file let you load another one without clash.

Hi pdcsky,

Can you please include the following information:

  • Call stack from the crash reporter windows

  • The Machine/Epic IDs that come up in that same window.

  • Logs from the crash in Project Folder > Saved > Logs (attach the text file here)

  • Does this happen in a blank project as well or only in your project?

  • If you have a test asset this could be helpful as well. I just tested this with a simple cloth asset and did not get a crash with 4.11.2. If you cannot provide a simple test asset please provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue along with steps you used with creating your asset and the settings changed.

Hi Tim , seems misunderstanding. This clash is caused when another cloth(or the same cloth added double) applied to material, not added to mesh. to avoid that, must delete all .apxFile added to mesh before apply it.

My all clothes(simple cloth,flag,coat) cause this and I set Owen's tie cloth to his coat material. clashed

I was able to see this with the Owen test asset but was never able to recreate with a new asset though. I've submitted UE-30039 for this to be investigated.
