Modo hardedges othermaps

Hello there.
ue4 crashes when exporting meshes from modo, with the edge pick made with vertex normal toolkit V.2.74.
Exporting without solves the problem.

Can you please provide the following information:

  • The full call-stack from the crash reporter window and make sure you submit the crash report as well.
  • Include your Machine/Epic IDs so we can reference the crash in our system
  • The logs from the crash located in your Project Folder > Saved > Logs
  • Fully detailed repro steps to create the crash.
  • If you have a sample asset that reproduces this 100% of the time that would be helpful as well.
  • Do you see this in your personal project or in any project created with 4.10?
  • Do you get the same crash in 4.11? There have been some significant improvements to the FBX importer that may have already been resolved.

Hey there, i have tried to reproduce the problem again and i for some reason can´t make it crash anymore. I did submit a crash report when the first mesh crashed. But here´s the logs and steps.

STEPS: Create lowpoly and highpoly model in modo. Use vertex normal toolkit to set smoothing at uv edges. Bake out shading normal, ao, diffuse map. Export lowpoly, open in Quixel suite 2. export RMA packed from quixel to UE4. Then ue4 crashes. I tried deleting the edge pick map in modo and importing the mesh again and this would not crash ue4. This happened with 2 meshes i made today.
I can´t test if the problem was only in that specific project. It was a normal FPS preset level.
Can´t test the problem in 4.11.
I can´t seem to find any info about the problem on google so it might just be a onetime problem.

I don’t have access to Modo or Quixel Suite 2. It’s likely that this could be reproduced without Quixel and just Modo though.

If you are able to provide a test asset and I can get the crash I can at least submit the JIRA for that to be investigated and fixed if it’s not already in 4.11 or even our internal build of 4.12.

Looking at the logs I didn’t see anything that was really helpful and when I checked Crash Reporter the only submitted crash was from 4/16 and it was something with copying two assets from the description.

There are times where it’s can be a “one off” type thing because it’s hard to reproduce, it’s not consistent, or sometimes only happens the first time and then is good. It just depends.

If you’re able to provide a test asset I can look further. Thank you!

I can´t attach fbx files. how should i send it?

The copying problem with the assets is a consistent problem that i can reproduce now. I can send the mesh if you want. There is 576copies of the mesh, it´s a blueprint that i am trying to copy.
