FBX Import Error - "Import failed" and "Could not find any node"

Hi,

I recently was working on a staircase model and for some reason no matter what I try, I get the import errors mentioned above. As it is not just a warning, I am not able to use my model at this time :frowning:

I am going to post my blend model. I am almost 100% positive its on my end.

I think it might have to do with using curves. I thought it wouldnt matter if it was converted to a mesh before import but at this point I’m sort of grappling for answer/

Blender still has problems with exporting to FBX. And I recommend you to use Autodesk fbx Converter to convert the file to fbx 2013.

Or you can switch to “FBX 6.1 ASCII”. This works too.

I came across this today with a static mesh (from 3ds max though), disabling animations in the fbx export dialogue fixed this for me.

Without knowing any specifics about your model and FBX export settings, it’s hard to say. If you can post these, it will go a long way to helping others diagnose what the problem is. That said, I suspect you’re exporting to an FBX format that Unreal doesn’t accept. In particular, I’ve had personal trouble importing FBX 2016 from Maya, but never had any issues with 2014/15.
