Nvidia Driver Crash in Viewport 4.11.2 w/ sample file

link text

Hello,

The Scene crashes after zooming out from the model. The Nvidia Driver resets, so no crash report.

Started having this issue with this particular imported FBX mesh.

Tried all recommended steps (Driver update, Driver Roll back, Nvidia Settings to performance, Disabled Engine Scalability, blaha blha blah…)

Tested this on a different Nvidia based system with the same results.

I have provided the scene for debugging, the “SideRoof” level.

It Works flawlessly in 4,10.

I hope there is a simple solution thanks!

PLEASE TEST THIS FILE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Specs: Intel 3960x, 64 gb 1600, Win 8,1 64 bit, GTX Titan

Hello,

  • Could you please provide the logs from your project’s Saved->Logs folder next time this crash occurs?
  • Does this happen in any other projects, or only when using that particular mesh?
  • “Test this file at your own risk” What are the risks involved with testing this file? Have you noticed any other failures on your graphics card prior to experiencing this crash?

Thank you.

Hey thank you for the quick response,

“DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED” as the graphics driver would crash. This log can be found in the file I previously attached

I tried making new projects using this FBX mesh with the same error. It is particular to this Mesh.

Both Graphics cards I tested; GTX 570 Ti and GTX Titan work fine with all previous UE4 projects I worked on.

Just to reiterate, this same FBX mesh works with 4.10, after recreating the same parallax shader.

And for “Testing at your own risk” is nothing to be alarmed, it just simply has to do with the fact that I am shell shocked by the amount of soft and hard crashes I have had to go through. The project file has nothing wrong with it aside form the fact that it seems to crash the Nvidia graphics drivers.

So far from what I have gathered, it seems to be a problem with C4D exporting UV’s for FBX to UE4.11

Are there other known issues with C4D fbx? Is it because UE4.11 uses FBX 2016?

Thanks!

Cool thanks,

Just in case any one has the same issue; Tweaking or re-doing the UV’s fixed the problem for me.

Hello,

After performing some testing in our internal branch, it looks like this particular crash is resolved internally. This fix will be available in a later engine version.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Have a great day

Just an Update. For no apparent reason random new assets are causing the Drivers to Crash just as before.

Any Idea when the 4.12 stable build will be available?

Thank you for your time!

We cannot currently provide a timeline for when 4.12 will be released.

Have a great day
