Import large Solidworks CAD assemblies into UE4?

I want to import large CAD models from Solidworks into Unreal Engine 4, similar to the Mclaren Enterprise Demo.

My models are similar in complexity to a car.

I have been able to use a 3rd party Solidworks to FBX converter to get the geometry nicely, but the results are all sorts of warnings about overlapping UV’s, and then after the lighting is built, all sorts of weird artifacts and ugly shadows.

Does anyone have a workflow for this that works well? Maybe a tool to recommend?

Thanks!

Datasmith may be in beta but it doesn’t really work all that well yet. I really hope they fix this. I have attached my bug report and I hope all of you with issues do the same. This way the issue seems more important. I know the datasmith would be the greatest thing in the world to me if it worked like it was supposed to. Also, it will not work fully, but the issue you seem to be having is that your assembly file is not in the same directory as your parts. This plugin doesn’t work with server assemblies.
