All Packages Fail after VS2015 update

Hello:

I made a big mistake and went to Visual Studio installer - Modify - to add common tools. Upon completion, I opened up my older projects and now all platform packaging fails (Windows, Android, etc). How do I revert back to where I was or get successful builds back?? Do I just need to update an environment variable or something? I hope this is an easy fix…

I am almost positive I already had VS2015 but there was an update that it made me install as well. Any information would be extremely helpful, please.

I can provide any information you need, just don’t know what to start with.

Thanks,

Hey Bamwd5-

What errors do you get when you try package? Do you have the same problems if you try packaging a new project? When modifying the VS install, did you add common tools for C++ programming language or the core Common Tools? If it’s the latter, can you try modifying the install again to remove this option?

Hey

Thanks for responding. For windows, there is an immediate build failed right as I try to package. Android the build fail is right at the end… I have the same problem with any project and format. I probably added the core common tools, unaware that there is a c++ common tools option for download. That would probably make sense. At this point, I have uninstalled all visual studio and the projects now package successfully again. But I would like to add common tools to incorporate some c++ plugins. Im nervous to try the c++ common tools download ;), but I will try when I have time this weekend and let you know.

Thanks

Hey Bamwd5-

Were you able to check if you have the correct Common Tools for C++ installed? If you are still having problems packaging, please include the error that you’re getting and as much information about the project that you can provide (what type of project, does the same thing happen in a new project, etc).
