Maya to ue4 multiple materials Problem

Hi, I have applied 1 material to the head and 1 to the body in Maya, Importing The skeletal mesh into UE4 IT shows 3 Materials/ elements on the mesh,

I dont know where the 3rd material has come from.

And the 2 materials are not on the faces I chose (head, Body) Instead they are scattered randomly.

Show pics please of Maya Model and then inside UE4. You may have had a default lambert hidden in there also.

Thanks for the reply! the lighter shade is the head material

You might need to check your material ID’s in maya.

If checking material ID’s in maya is making sure the faces have the correct material then I have already triple checked,

I FOUND A FIX!

I turned off triangulate at FBX export options in maya…

And it came out perfect!

Any idea to why this happened? it seemed like triangulating the mesh through the FBX export messed my material ids

Sounds like an export bug to me

Maya(lT) 2016 currently has a bug associated with the Triangulate button on export. Disable it and triangulate BEFORE you try to export it.
