Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

license Question

Hi, I have a question about licensing again, so the new problem I have encountered is: I have found a great asset in three sites(same author who uploaded them) all of the sites are reliable but the license types are different i couldnt contact the author(not replied yet).

http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/26363 it is under CC BY that means i can use it with a restriction that i have to credit the author. so not SA or NC, but i have found the same asset uploaded in an other site (By the same author) https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/animals/other/black-dragon-rigged-and-game-ready here editorial license and even a similar for commerical for money https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/animals/reptile/dragon-rigged-and-game-ready and yet again the same and same author on https://sketchfab.com/models/5AbAzOgdWWGmMVeJEOnpRHyIRH2 but here even a fourth type of license CC BY NC so what to do in this situation?

its quite frustrating iv found another of this case this time about 4 different license again http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/snake-max/823981 https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/animals/reptile/snake-by-swp http://tf3dm.com/3d-model/snake-by-swp-22834.html

what if i use it and the author just remove the free from the site, do i get in trouble?

It does seem unusual and frustrating for an author to license the same content under very different licenses. That said, it's not very uncommon for open source code to be "dual-licensed" where the recipient can effective choose which of the two licenses they want to operate under. It seems this could be treated similarly.

i get it, but the commerical use is ok vs the non commerical only, is a bit odd both free, but other sites, same author, but which applies? can it be used in my case with unreal and sell commerically?

Unfortunately I can't speak for the author and I can't give you legal advice. I can say that there is no restriction from the Unreal side.

It might be that the author just uploaded the content to various sites under whatever that site's default licensing terms are.

You might consider reaching out to the site itself, like CGTrader to confirm.
