Hello. I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this so if not let me know where I need to move it. I’ve been playing around with sequencer recently and I love it! I do have two small feature requests though that I feel would have a massive benefit for workflow.
The first is Layer Linking. Similar to layer linking in Premiere Pro, the idea is that we would be able to link two or more tracks/layers together so that if one layer get moved around the timeline, the other would move with it (great for syncing audio). (Note: When I say Layer, I’m referring to things like shots and audio, where multiple elements can exist on the one track. Wasn’t really sure what the proper name for it would be). There could be two modes. An “Alignment Only” mode, where each of the can have their In and Out points edited independent of each other, but will remain aligned so that they all the linked layers still move together . The second mode would be “Align and Trim”, where trimming a layer affects all layers linked to it, as well as keeping the layers aligned.
The second request is for Preview Tracks. The idea is to be able to reference a track from another sequence (or even an entire sequence ) within a sequence, but have that referenced track/sequence be visible only in that sequence which is referencing it. For context, I was reading this page, I thought it would be get annoying having to add in the sub-sequence, make the edits, and then delete the sub sequence, or jump between different sequences every time you wanted to make an adjustment and see the results. Being able to have a preview/reference track would be great for previewing results within the sequence you’re working in without actually affecting any other sequences
While I am an aspiring game artist, I come from a video editing background and am looking into ways of using UE4 for films as well as games. I believe these two features, while small, would offer big improvements to workflow and ease of use, especially for people coming from a film background. Feel free ask me to elaborate if you need more details on these requests
