how to properly move project from 4.10 to 4.11?

how to properly move project from 4.10 to 4.11? export my axis and actions events? copy all my stuff from 4.10 version and paste it into my 4.11 version content browser?

i finally decided to port my 4.9.2 project over. while most things still worked, the editor itself is buggy as F.

reminds me of the 4.7 4.8 days. 4.9.2 is still the most stable build ive ever seen of the editor. 4.11 im getting crashes pretty often. when u compile and theres something that the editor doesnt like… where it used to error it now just crashes and loses all unsaved items.

also had all my variables in the open class get zeroed out. ALL vars in that class. Had to manually go in and reset the variable initial paramters manually from a a backup. That used to happen to me all the time on 4.8 when it would crash in the animBPs.

it might be more stable for a fresh project … or maybe a small project… for a larger one built on an older engine. if you’re not having issues. dont move up

i see…for me i have a pretty large project and i have been buying things from the asset store so i have to move up in order to be able to use those assets because they are not supported by older versions…i liked 4.9 the best as well…i moved it to 4.11 from 4.10 succesfully but now the frame rate is 30 frames slower for some reason…i put some more work into it and hate to lose what i just did but i’m worried about the frame rate…and also the frame rate suddenly drops to like 5 fps often and freezes…when i converted it the proper way…it had hundreds of broken blupprints…so i just copied and pasted the content folder into the new project and it worked…however the frame rate is down by 30 fps…now i’m worried…maybe i should just try to send the newer assets that i bought from 4.11 to 4.10?..and try to keep it in 410…are they always going to keep changing the engine this way? i mean are they ever going to make a final version? thanks for the advice! i think i should stay with 410 right? maybe even try to move it back to 4.9?? 410 crashes alot

I don’t know if theres a diff between 4.11 and 4.10. IF you’re already getting a lot of crashes… then probably fine to move to 4.11. I doubt it will be better or worse. I’m getting 15-20 crashes a day with 4.11. Thats coming from 1 a month with 4.9.2. I tried to go back but soon as you convert your project up it changes something in a lot of the files. Your maps wont open in previous version. I tried to go back to 4.9.2 today. Spent all day trying to get stuff working in 4.11 today. The AI/EQS/Navmesh stuff is really broken in 4.11. None of my AI stuff works. The EQS doesnt work in 4.11 unless you add these new “tests” to the EQS that didnt exist before. If its left testless which its allowed to be… it just doesnt run. Of course all EQS are testless before this version since the feature didnt exist. I put a bug report in already.

Aside from that… the ai just wont move sometimes. Recreating the nav mesh bounds fixes it… til next time? We’ll see. Why does it happen… no idea.

Also the crashes on 4.11 dont even give you a report page or anything… just pure shut down. Sometimes when not even compiling or doing anything major, it just crashes while typing a variable name… before I even commit the name! Or I’ll look at a diff monitor to check email, come back and be like “huh… wheres the editor?”. Just gone.

Like you i did a few days worth of work on the new version of the project and would be another day to move all that work into my 4.9.2 backup.

Lesson learned… don’t update unless theres something in the later version you absolutely NEED. Save often… and grow some patience. I went through this in 4.8 and almost quit this hobby for good then. Looks like its back. sigh.
