Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Heart Rate Monitor Health

Hi,

I am looking for a bit of guidance in how best to do a heart rate monitor health system, whereby there is a electrocardiogram (heart rate monitor) on the HUD that changes slightly based on the players health and status, e.g when the player dies it flat lines, or when the player is sprinting it beats faster.

I figured a simple approach might be to do it as a flipbook texture using a basic sprite sheet, but I wasn't sure if this would be a good approach. I also though about maybe using an animation video (say from after effects) but I havent done this in the past so wasn't really sure if this was feasible.

Basically, any kind of advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

hello there! don't know if you have found any solutions yet. i'm trying to figure out a good way to do the same. regarding after effects though (or other videos in general), i found out it's very resource heavy to have a media texture playing. to have something like a tv every once in a while in your level is ok. but to have something as crucial as the players health, constantly on display this way, wouldnt be a good thing. at least that's how i see it. what you might could do, is let after effects do the heavy lifting, then export in a gif file, make an atlas, then go with the flipbook solution. i'm sorry i didn't provide a solution, but i hope i at least helped eliminate one scenario!
