Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Unable to load materials and layerinfo

I had a crash and since restarting, I have a message log saying that it's failed to load the following:

Now the landscape is pure black, the same colour as the Landscape Material.

Most materials were working fine before the crash, however, 2 of them weren't painting. Instead they would paint the whole grid square in grid square material.

Hi Oddity1111,

  • What was the crash caused by?

  • Did you save the material before the crash?

  • The assets listed look like starter content assets, did you remove any of the starter contents from your project?

  • Have you run a Fix up Redirectors on your Contents folder?

Thank you very much for your help. I did fix up redirectors however my paint materials didn't come back. I will use that again if I have another crash.

Thank you.

With the materials, how many textures do you have in the material you are using? If it is more than 12, set them all to Sampler Source: Shared Wrap. This is located in the details pane of the texture node. It is important to ensure that every texture node you have in your material has this set or it will not correctly register.

Ok I will do that. I appreciate your help.

Crashes are common and I think it's because I'm either on the old version or because I don't have an i7, I have an i54690k and gtx970. Sometimes it crashes when sculpting, or when I'm painting the materials, dragging objects into the world from content browser, or pressing 'Play From Here'.

This issue of materials painting a grid square happened once before and so I deleted the material and created a new one. It worked until the issue came again in a similar situation, was painting then it crashed and then lost it all resulting in this landscape: alt text

This is the colour of the material instance because I didn't add any Preview Weight value to the materials. I've added Grass again and it works, so paint is working but the crash may cause me to lose all the work for a 3rd time.

I did save the materials before the crash, I save it regularly due to regular crashes.

I still have the Starter Content folder and haven't deleted anything from it: alt text

How do I use the Fix Up Redirector or run the command? alt text

Couldn't find out on YouTube, on this Unreal doc or this answer

If you RMB on the content folder you can find the Fix Up Redirectors button:
